Become an Olympic Ambassador

Would you like to become an Olympic Ambassador?

Olympic Ambassadors will welcome visitors from all over the UK and the world to the North West during the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

The Ambassador Programme is the joint volunteer programme for Manchester, Salford and Trafford communities to get involved in the London 2012 games preparations and games times activities in the 3 communities.

Olympic Ambassadors will volunteer outside the host venue of Old Trafford Football Ground and in the 3 communities in various roles and activities. The aim is that the 3 communities’ will unite through the power of the Olympics and Paralympics games creating a larger community spirit through Greater Manchester and a legacy of volunteering. Throughout the 2012 there will also be events in the lead up to the Olympics that may well be used as test events ready for July 2012.

The project will target a cohort of 300 local volunteers for Games time visitor welcome at key sites across Greater Manchester including transport hubs, Live Site, City Centre and Last Mile.

For full details of the Ambassador Programme including the available roles and eligibility, visit: www.manchestervsb.org/uploads/documents/ambassador.pdf.

Olympic Ambassadors will be given training and will take part in group role plays, learn practical skills such as first aid, discover how to keep calm in a crisis and become a pro at dealing with difficult situations. You can use your new skills to find a job, or be inspired by your experience as an Olympic Ambassador to continue volunteering.
